Convulsions
These are symptoms of seizure activity (of the whole body or confined to only one side of the body or one limb) which results from abnormal electrical activity in the brain (abnormal conduction of the nerve impulses). It may be a pathologic sign of epilepsy but also other factors such as hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) observed in diabetes mellitus, meningitis or head injury may cause seizure. Fainting can also lead to jerking movements. These movements do not necessarily indicate a seizure. Apart from pathologic movement activity of the body the other symptoms which may occur are tongue biting, incontinence of urine, staring spells, loss of consciousness. Once the seizures subside drowsiness may appear and man can not remember the incidence of seizure.
