SELECT disease_id, disease_name FROM disease_descriptions WHERE language_id = '2' AND MATCH (disease_name, disease_description, disease_treatment, disease_complications, disease_prevention, other_info) AGAINST ('+Arterial hypertension is a disease in which the blood pressure in arterial vessels is too high. The blood pressure is a force with which blood flows through the vessels. If this force is too high it damages the delicate membrane which lines arteries inside. This causes that the mechanisms are activated to remove these damages and the clots in the vessels are made. This situation predisposes to deposition of cholesterol in the vessels and leads to atherosclerosis, the fatty concentrations which narrow the lumen of arteries what is especially dangerous according to the coronary and brain vessels, because it can lead to myocardial and cerebral ischemia. The heart is under risk because it has to work with greater force to deal with the vascular resistance what can lead to the hearth failure. The arterial hypertension is diagnosed when the level of systolic pressure in two measurements in physician's office is over 140 mmHg and diastolic over 90 mmHg. These norms are set for people who have no additional diseases such as diabetes mellitus. These patients should have even lower blood pressure (<130/80 mm). A secondary hypertension, which states only 10% of all kinds of hypertensions is caused by the diseases in the body, which disturb the regulation systems maintaining the normal level of blood pressure. If the secondary hypertension is recognized early enough, and the treatment introduced, it is possible to treat the patient completely. The most common reason of the secondary hypertension are renal disorders, and among them the narrowing of renal artery. Renal artery stenosis is caused by the atherosclerosis, thrombosis, embolism or pressure from the surrounding tissues. The renal artery stenosis causes a decreased flow through the kidney, what causes its malfunction. This situation is dangerous for a kidney itself, because not only it receives less oxygen, but also looses the ability to properly remove the toxic substances. The decrease of blood flow a kidney recognizes as a lower level of fluids in the organism, what mobilizes the special hormonal regulation mechanism called rennin – angiotensin system. This mechanism, which reacts for the decrease of renal blood flow acts by the retention of the sodium and water in organism increasing the blood volume and causing hypertension. The same system is activated by other hormones, e.g. corticosteroids, what causes that patients who are chronically treated with steroids often develop hypertension. The other very often reason of hypertension is high level of thyroid hormones. The hyperthyroidism causes the increased vascular tonus, tachycardia and the retention of water in the vessels. Other hormonal disorders are rare, but also have to be remembered about. If the episodes of hypertension among young people occur suddenly and are accompanied by the pallor and tachycardia an adrenal neoplasm – pheochromocytoma has to be considered.
