What is a calorie? The physicist's point of view

The calories listed on food packages are not simply calories - they are in fact kilocalories (1000 calories = 1 kilocalorie = 1 kcal) 1 kilocalorie is frequently named 1 “food calorie”. The same definition of calorie also applies to physical activity.
