Screening examinations in direction of prostate cancer, implemented in some countries, comprise every year per rectum examination (with finger through rectum) and determination of PSA level in blood serum in men after 50th or 55th year of life. No convincing proves exist, that such action decreases mortality from the prostate cancer. For this reason experts of National Cancer Institute as well as advisory committee of UE do not recommend such screening examinations. Cause of no decrease of mortality from prostate cancer may be inaccurate registration of death cause in older men, treated for this tumour. Analysis carried out in the USA showed, that too many deaths are ascribed to prostate cancer, when, in reality, causes are different. Presently further researches, which should show real effectiveness of such screening, are carried out.
