What to eat, what to avoid

In 2002 the American Cancer Society presented recommendations with reference to the life style depending tumours:

1. As much food of plant origin as possible should be eaten, not processed vegetables and fruit (avoid fried vegetables, especially chips and crisps), drink not sweetened vegetable and fruit juices; eat meals few times a day in small portions.

2.  Wholemeal cereal products (bread, flakes, pastas) and non shelled rice should be chosen. Avoid eating sweets and other sugar containing products.

3. Consumption of red meat should be limited – it would be the best to replace it with fish, poultry and bean. If red meat is eaten, visible fat should be removed and small portions should be eaten. Preparing meat meals, frying should be avoided; cooking and baking are healthier.

4. Proper body mass should be kept, choosing low-fat and low-caloric products, replacing deserts with fresh fruit. Resignation from food of fast-food type is recommended.
